Zelos is a fast-paced and team-oriented battery startup located in San Leandro, California. We are building a rechargeable alkaline technology that can overcome safety, performance and cost limitations of lithium-ion for energy storage and backup power applications.

We are now hiring for a Battery Process Technician to play a vital supporting role in battery
prototype fabrication and testing at our lab space at the Gate 510 facility. The ideal candidate is
hands-on, a natural team player, and able to take on a variety of challenges each day. You will work
in a small team of engineers and scientists on battery engineering and R&D projects. Projects will be
focused on helping to scale-up our process from the lab to the pilot line and to mass production. The
successful candidate is also expected to participate in optimization of cell assembly and improvement
of cell performance as well as in general lab duties. The ideal applicant should have prior hands-on
experience in a wet chemistry lab or with batteries..
Applicants must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and precision-driven lab environment.
These are some of the tasks you will need to perform in this role. As a growing company,
responsibilities will evolve over time.
Responibilities:
• Prepare and optimize slurry compositions for the pilot production of the electrodes
• Work with the tools and pilot equipment to optimize production of the electrodes.
• Help with preparing electrodes and assembling cells and prototypes
• Work with members of a lab team under the direction of battery engineers and a lab
manager to streamline standard cell build processes.
• Handle a variety of common and proprietary battery materials and perform standard wet
lab functions.
• Document electrode and cell fabrication data and procedures.
• Help with inventory and supply management.
For all tasks, you will need to engage well with scientific, engineering, technical, operations, and
administrative colleagues in a flexible R&D startup setting. Familiarity with Excel, Word and
PowerPoint in Windows and/or Mac is essential.

For all tasks, you will need to engage well with scientific, engineering, technical, operations, and
administrative colleagues in a flexible R&D startup setting. Familiarity with Excel, Word and

Background and Experience
• At least a couple years of work experience in an industrial or lab setting preferred – recent
graduates are also welcome to apply.
• Some college coursework in STEM fields such as chemistry, chemical engineering,
mechanical engineering or materials science.
• Knowledge of batteries or electrochemical energy storage materials is a plus, particularly
alkaline technologies, Zn-Mn, or other types of aqueous-base chemistries.
• Hands-on knowledge of battery or other energy device assembly and testing is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
We are able to hire up to a full-time, 40-hour per week role at $50K to $60K per year plus stock
options, depending on experience. We also offer a great benefits package including health
insurance and PTO.
